Step by Step Recipe for Dal Tadka

Step 1: Soak the Toor Dal in 3 Cups of water for an hour. After one hour, strain the Dal and keep aside.

Step 2: Heat a pressure cooker and pour in the soaked dal. Add 2 cups of water and bring to boil.

Step 3: Once it starts boiling, add salt, turmeric powder, and 1tsp ghee and cover the lid.

Step 4: Cover the lid of the cooker and take 2-3 whistles. Keep aside.

Step 5: Now heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start spluttering, add asafetida and mix.

Step 6: Add ginger and sauté on medium heat for a minute. Add onions and fry them till they turn golden brown.

Step 7: Now, add chopped tomatoes and sauté well.

Step 8: Now, add red chili powder, garam masala powder and mix well.

Step 9: Once this mixture is ready, add the cooked dal from the pressure cooker.

Step 10: Bring to boil and check for consistency. Add water, if required.

Step 11: Add lemon juice and remove from heat.

Add Coriander leaves for Garnishing. Serve Hot!
